Julia Beatrice How (16 October 1867 – 19 August 1932) was a British painter active in France. How was born in Devon but travelled to France where she eventually set up a workshop in Étaples. In 1905 two of her paintings were included in an overview of women painters with the remark ''Miss Beatrice How...gives us, most delightfully, the very sentiment of the country people she paints.'' These paintings ''In a Dutch Cottage'' and ''Le Repas'' were included in the 1905 book ''Women Painters of the World''.〔''(Women painters of the world, from the time of Caterina Vigri, 1413-1463, to Rosa Bonheur and the present day )'', by Walter Shaw Sparrow, The Art and Life Library, Hodder & Stoughton, 27 Paternoster Row, London, 1905〕 She never married and is remembered most today for her pastels of mothers with children.
